November 4, 2019 – Toronto, Ontario – The Jump Canada Hall of Fame welcomed three new inductees during its 12th annual Induction Ceremony and Gala, presented by BMO Financial Group, on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Liberty Grand in Toronto, ON.

A sold-out crowd celebrated Greg Greenough’s induction in the category of Builder – Individual; Wayne McLellan as Rider; and the 2008 Olympic silver medal team of Mac Cone, Jill Henselwood, Eric Lamaze and Ian Millar in the Team category.  Held as part of a black-tie gala and dinner, the Hall of Fame paid tribute to these three extraordinary and deserving inductees.  Tribute videos and heartfelt speeches highlighted the accomplishments and incredible contributions that all three inductees have made to Canadian hunter/jumper sport.

Past president of the Canadian Equestrian Federation and former Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) committee member, Greenough was celebrated for his esteemed leadership and unwavering support of sport.  Renowned competitor, trainer, and coach, McLellan was inducted for his remarkable and unparalleled career in the Canadian hunter industry.  The Canadian Show Jumping Team comprised of Mac Cone and Ole, Jill Henselwood and Special Ed, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead, and Ian Millar and In Style fought against all odds to deliver a team silver medal for Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

“The Hall of Fame Gala provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the legends of our sport in front of their peers,” said Mark Samuel, Chairman of the Jump Canada Hall of Fame. “The sense of community was incredible and everyone went home inspired and feeling connected.  It is an honour for my committee and myself to pay tribute to our industry’s amazing champions and legacy.”

The Jump Canada Hall of Fame was created in 2006 to recognize outstanding contributions to Canadian hunter/jumper sport.  Including the 2019 induction class, a total of 60 champions have been welcomed into the Hall of Fame to date, including 21 horses and ponies, 31 humans, six organizations, and six teams.

In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions, the annual Jump Canada awards were presented by committee chair Pamela Law, allowing the recipients to be recognized and to celebrate their achievements among colleagues.  Kim Morrison was named the Official of the Year; BMO Financial Group was recognized as the Sponsor of the Year; and Rosalind Schaefer of Wishing Well Farm was selected as this year’s Owner of the Year recipient.  Kept confidential until the time of presentation, Beth Underhill was revealed as the Volunteer of the Year for her tireless contributions to the continued advancement and improvement of equestrian sport.

The Jump Canada Hall of Fame committee is comprised of Mark Samuel (Chairman), Jennifer Anstey, Evie Frisque, Muffie Guthrie, Bobbie Reber, Phil Rozon, Jennifer Ward, and Nancy Wetmore.

The Jump Canada Hall of Fame is a property of the Jumping Committee of Equestrian Canada.  The Jumping Committee is responsible for the development and monitoring of all aspects of the hunter jumper industry in Canada, from the grass roots to the international level.  For more information regarding Canadian hunter and jumper programs, visit https://www.equestrian.ca/sport/jumping.
